I incorporated BreakoutEDU into my middle school library in 2017 through an initial “Let’s give it a try” purchase of three BreakoutEDU kits. Since then, we’ve expanded our collection to 15 kits and digital access because our students and teachers love it so much! As a STEM Educator, we are always looking for innovative ways to engage our students. The pandemic has had an impact on education in many ways. One impact for my school has been in the form of our monthly whole-school meetings. They used to take place in our school gymnasium, but with social distancing and in-person, remote, or hybrid learning we’ve had to pivot to a virtual meeting. My building administrators have always made it a point to have a “Wow” factor where the students would feel involved. We would collaborate to come up with different ways to virtually make them interactive for the students while also connecting them to the monthly themes involving The Seven Habits of Happy Kids.
Our littlest learners have so much potential when we give them opportunities to shine.
