Breakout EDU Spotlight: Becky Poljac
Becky Poljac
K-5 Instructional Designer
What school do you work at, what grade do you teach, and what is your role?
I work at Moseley Elementary School for K-5 as an Instructional Designer.
What are some ways you implement Breakout EDU with your students and/or your teachers?
I love to use Breakout EDU when introducing a new topic, reviewing a topic, or to foster collaboration and critical thinking within a class.
What do you feel is the most impactful aspect of using Breakout EDU with your students?
The most impactful aspect is how students have to work as a team, communicate, think outside the box, and persevere when things get tough. My favorite part is always seeing how they work together for a common goal of breaking out!
What is your favorite thing about Breakout EDU?
The Breakout EDU Platform provides games that align perfectly with our Virginia SOLS for all grade levels. So whether you are new or a veteran like myself, you are minutes away from engaging Breakout EDU games with your students.
What do your students say about Breakout EDU?
They LOVE it!! We typically surprise them with it, so when I walk through the class with my cart full of locks and boxes, they will say things like βYes!! A Breakout!!β
What is one piece of advice you would give to an educator who is new to Breakout EDU?
Partner with your instructional coach or another teacher. Do not be afraid to mess up! Take a risk and you will see the benefits of Breakout EDU. The Breakout EDU platform is very user-friendly with everything you will need to start your first breakout.
